Frames and Face Shapes: Oval

Victor LopesFrames for Fashion

In an ideal world, I would have as many frames (glasses) as I have shoes…and those that have been in my closet know that I love shoes! Since this is not realistic, picking one or two or three amazing frames is the solution! Over the next few weeks, I will be posting tips on how to pick the best frames based on your face shape, frame fit and colour guidelines.

Oval

To start, there are five basic face shapes: oval, square, round, heart and triangle. In general, the ideal frame would counterbalance your face shape and features. Let’s start with the OVAL face: This is considered the ideal shaped face because its proportions are balanced and gives you the greatest freedom in picking a frame shape. Features include broad cheek bones but a narrower forehead and chin (think of Eva Mendes or Jake Gyllenhaal). People with this shape can wear almost any style but in general it is recommended to select a frame that is just slightly wider than the broadest part of your face. Also look for styles that are thicker or darker on the top or that wing up slightly at the top.
